And what is “here” anyways?  Outcome is in Ottawa, but hey, it’s 2022 and even before COVID, Outcome operated with almost half of its staff based in other cities.  That’s because our project sites are all over the country and we are amazing at using computers and technology to communicate effectively as a team.  Although an Ottawa base is preferred, if you are confident you can succeed in leading teams in this way and you live anywhere in Canada, your “here” is our “here”.

 

What will you do?  Bad news is that it is work (see Responsibilities below) and so you have to be prepared to lead a project team composed of environmental professionals working on a diverse portfolio of project sites at various locations in Canada, to handle tight timelines, and once in a while, to smile.  The good news is that you will always have a great sense of pride for completing some amazing projects and you will be supported by a team of professionals that are always driven to impress the hell out of our clients. 

 

Responsibilities:

Responsible as a senior project manager within the environmental services division for carrying out the following:


  • Business development to identify and evaluate new opportunities with clients and potential partners/collaborators for OCI. Preparing the recommendation to the Environmental Division Manager on the go/no-go decision for new opportunities.
  • Overseeing or preparing proposals outlining the means and methods, cost estimate, schedule, and risk management plan for new project pursuits.
  • Successfully launching an ESA or remediation project, establishing the team structure and roles, and overseeing the project to ensure operations are quickly normalized.
  • Providing technical oversight and leadership on core environmental projects and involving other subject matter experts when needed.
  • Completing quality assurance reviews on project outputs, and when necessary, carrying out certain operational aspects of complex projects.
  • Liaising between the client, OCI personnel, suppliers, and external stakeholders
  • Leading and preparing regular reports related to quality, financial, schedule, and safety performance for the portfolio of environmental projects assigned to you
  • Providing business guidance to the Environmental Division Manager and President
  • Support the Environmental Division Manager in the recruitment of personnel
  • Initiating project reviews during and at project close-out and documenting lessons learned


Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in environmental or civil engineering or related earth sciences program
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the environmental industry
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing projects.
  • Proficient in software applications, including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project or Primavera P6
  • Project Management training an asset.

Work Environment:

  • The majority of work will occur in an office setting. Must be able to travel (air travel is required) for business development or fieldwork from time to time.
